EMS Providers Either Operate on Faith or They’re Crazy! Or Both!

You have chosen to be in the business of rescuing people and saving lives. No, you’re not Superman. No, you’re not Wonder Woman. You have no superpowers.
Maybe you’re more like Ironman or Batman?
Nah, They’re Both Rich!
You have chosen a profession that will likely never make you rich and may not even offer the possibility of becoming wealthy. You have chosen to take on additional life challenges by rotating schedules. You have chosen to take normal marriage and family juggling to a whole new level.
You have chosen to be there for people, even saving their lives, who may not recognize you on the streets two days later. You have chosen to work every day to make a difference, even when there is overwhelming evidence you are tilting against windmills. You have chosen a virtually thankless profession.
Maybe EMS Personnel Are Just Crazy?!
Or perhaps you, wonderful people, have more faith than most of the Christians I have known.
EMS personnel are just crazy enough to have faith that the overdosed drug addict they just gave Narcan to save their life might be the one who will make a change in their life and do good. They might be the one who fully recovers and becomes an Addiction chaplain who helps others recover, too. Maybe this teenager, who was severely injured, will get healed up and drive more safely before an even worse wreck happens and lives are lost. Maybe this time. Maybe this one.
EMS Providers Must Have Faith They Make a Difference Even When They Cannot See It.
If you will allow me just a few more lines….
You’re not crazy. (Well, I’m pretty sure you’re not!) You are extraordinary. Don’t forget that. You may not see all the good you do. People may not remember your name, but they will be affected by what you do every day of their lives.
On behalf of all of those who may have forgotten to say it.
Thank you!
