Robert E. Daughdril’s emergency medical services (EMS) career spans over four decades, embodying a steadfast commitment to public health and safety. With a robust educational background and extensive professional experience, Daughdril has made meaningful contributions to the field, shaping emergency medical response in Louisiana.

Early Education and Achievements

Daughdril began his academic journey at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiological Technology from 1976 to 1983. His dedication to excellence was recognized through numerous accolades, including the prestigious Mallinckrodt Award for Outstanding Clinical Performance. Additionally, Daughdril consistently earned a spot on both the President’s and Dean’s Lists, reflecting his commitment to academic achievement.

Foundational Experience in EMS

Robert's professional career commenced at the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital in Sulphur, Louisiana, where he began as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic in 1976. During his time at the hospital, he advanced through various roles, including EMT Intermediate and Ambulance Training Coordinator, from 1981 to 1985. His relentless pursuit of knowledge and skill ultimately culminated in his role as an EMT Paramedic from 1985 to 2007.

Daughdril’s leadership skills came to the forefront when he assumed the position of Director of Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Services from 1990 to 2007, where he oversaw critical EMS operations, ensuring that quality care was delivered to patients in need.

Leadership Roles and Contributions

In 2005, Daughdril expanded his influence within EMS by serving as the EMS Regional Coordinator for Region Five at the Office of Hospital Bureau of EMS in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This position allowed him to coordinate emergency medical services across a wider geographic area, impacting many lives through effective management and strategic planning.

His leadership journey continued as he took on the role of Emergency Medical Services Specialist with the Office of Homeland Security Emergency Preparedness for Calcasieu Parish Police Jury from 2007 to 2013. Here, he played a crucial role in coordinating emergency preparedness efforts and ensuring the community was equipped to handle various crises.

Retiring in 2017, Daughdril's passion for emergency response did not wane. He continued to serve as an Emergency Response Coordinator until 2013 and later contributed as Vice Chairman for the Office of Hospital Emergency Medical Task Force and as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Louisiana Rural Ambulance Alliance from 2018 to the present.

Commitment to Training and Education

Daughdril's dedication to education and training in EMS is evident in his numerous certifications and teaching roles. As an American Heart Association instructor since 1980, he played a key role in training countless individuals in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). His extensive qualifications also include certifications in HazMat for Healthcare, Incident Command Systems, and various fire-fighting and rescue disciplines through the L.S.U. Fire Fighting School.

His involvement with national organizations such as the National Search and Rescue School highlights his commitment to advancing the field of search and rescue operations. Daughdril has contributed as an instructor and evaluator for various search and rescue technician certifications, displaying his dedication to developing the skills of future emergency responders.
